Today in sicience I am doing Gummy Bears.

 GUMMY BEARS

Aim:

I want to find out what to gummy bears when we put them into different solutions.

Method:

Equipment 

1. 4x Gummy Bears of the same colour.

2. 2x petri dishes 

3. Paper towels 

4. Water 

5. Sugar water 

- Dry.

- Sugar.

- Salt. 

 -water.

Osmosis: The  movement of liquids or gases through a semi-permeable membrane.

Diffusion: The movement of any substance from a higher concentration to a lower concentration.

 

The dry Gummy bear lost weight lost weight after 6 days.

The Gummy bear in normal water lost 1.82 gm in 6 days.

The Gummy bear in salt water lots 1.2 gm in 6 days.

The Gummy bear in sugar lots 0.2 mg in 6 days.

1. Why is Jacinda Ardern a HERO for giving us school lunches? because some kids go to school hungry with no food in there belly to give them energy  to learn. 

2. How do you think school lunches help students? it heilps students because  they do,t  have to remember to bring there lunch to school because they already have free  food provided for them at school to eat .

3. Why do you think other countries should have free lunuches in their school Why or why not they should because some poor countries might not be able to afford food of there kids to take to school to give  them energy to learn.

4. what is your opinion on ka ora, ka Ako do you enjoy? yes I enjoy having  it at school.

5. do you enjoy your lunches? I enjoy my lunches because they are yam and healthy for you. some of them taste gross but mosst of the time they taste good.

1. Miri & Lucia  loved  to play clapping game.

2.  A morning tea and lunch Miri always play hand games with her frineds.

2. the girl who is really  good at clapping hand   game fell off the bunk bed and  broken her arm.

3.  when she went back to school after she broken her arm. 

4.she was Jealous because she  couldn't  play hand game with her Freindes.

5. she was sitting a loon and just about cry watch in them have fun playing the hand games that she teach them. 

6. she went over to them and said can I play with one off my hand,s  and  you use one of your hand,s but we will go slow she send that doesn,t matter.

7.  It,ll still be fun. That  okay she said to me.

Who was the HERO in the story Jade 

What made them a hero Jade is the hero in the story  because  she had the idea to use one of her hands  and Miri can use one of her hand's. she mad Miri happy by letting her play even on she has a sling on her arm.

Chromtography is a technique for the separation of a mixture by passing it in solution or suspension through a medium in which the component move at different rates.

Materials.

1. skittles. 

2. petri dish.

3. water.

Method.

1. Place skittle around the edge of the petri dish.

2. Carefully put water into the middle of the dish.

3. Watch to see which colours reach the middle first.

 

The yellow skittle went to the centre first.

Today off science we did Rainboow Paper

 RAINBOW-PAPER

1. chromatography paper.

2. test tube.

3.  put water in your test tube (20mls).

4. felt pens.(x5) 

5. Test tube rack.

Process.

1. get  a pec of chroatography paper.

2. get your  test tube.

3.then put about (20ml) of water in your (x5) tast tubes.

4. get  (x5) difference colurful pens.

5. fold about (15cm) of paper  and draw a dot on the line.

6. a put the pec of paper in the test tube and make sure the dot is above the water.

7. and wait unil the colour suddenly changes colour.

Dear Bethany Hamilton,hello My Name Elektra.  We are a year 8 & 7 at Hornby High school in Christchurch. Over  the last two weeks we have been learning about Sports Heroes. We are learning this because many famous sports people show that you are a true New Zealand sports hero, and I think it is  important that we recognise this. Over the last week, we have created Athlete profiles to learn more about our favourite sports heroes. Why I think you a true hero because you.. keeped surfing though when you got bitten by a shark   on October, 31  2003  On your left arm.  One month after the attack, She returned to her  board. Initially   She adopted a custom-made broad that was songer and slightly thicker than standard and had a handle for her right arm, making it easier to peddle’ and she learned to kick more to make up for the loss of her left arm. After teaching herself  to surf  with one arm, she returned to surfing on November 26,2003 just  26 days after the attack and entered her first major competition on January 10,2004 she now uses standard competitive performance short-boards. The shark-bitten surfboard that Hamilton was  riding  during the attack,as well the bathing suit she was wearing at the time, a gift from ocean photographe.
